Coaching FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions and the Answers

I am an ICF (International Coach Federation) Master Certified Coach (MCC), Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC), certified executive coach, certified hypnotherapist (CHt), Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, certified Master NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, and am trained in energy psychology and advanced regression therapy.

I’ve been in private practice since 2002 and have worked with hundreds of people from all over the world. Because of my 40-year involvement The Arts and Entertainment many of my clients have been film and stage industry professionals and celebrities, but equally as many come from other walks of life. I am also co-owner of Envision Global Leadership (EGL) and co-founder and Director of Training of ICF accredited Envision Coach Training where I train and mentor approximately 20 coaches each year.

I utilize a number of modalities in my work with clients and use the word 'coaching' as an umbrella term.
Through JVE Coaching you can have:

o Personal and Professional Coaching
o Personal Development Consulting
o Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
o Hypnotherapy
o Grief recovery coaching
o Energy therapy

Together we custom-design a program that includes only the modalities you are interested in. That design is also based on what you want to create and how you would like to go about creating it. I will help you get clear about the options you have and guide the sessions in the most powerful way possible.

There is no cookie-cutter method to get you to where you want to go, only the most effective—guided by your agenda and my expertise. It is all about creating a powerful support system for the results you want.

o Career Changes
o Life Changes
o Professional Goals
o Stress or Anxiety
o Navigating Existing Success (yes, this comes with it's own set of challenges!)
o Relationship Concerns
o Self Confidence
o Phobias or Fears
o Recovering from a Loss
o and more

Some clients are concerned that certain subjects (like personal or relationship) are only appropriate for psychotherapy or counseling. In our work together you can address personal, relationship and life goals—anything you would like to improve upon or create—as long as you are in a stable place and are interested in creating something new.

Further, unlike psychotherapy, which tends to focus on the past, most of my work is focused on the present and future. However, your past can (and will likely be) included in the exploration as it is part of your life, especially if you choose to do Hypnotherapy or Grief Recovery Work. However, we don’t spend a lot of time in your past and if and when we do, we stay there only as long as it is required to help you get clear about the present, as well as to shift what your perception is of events in relation to the present. Unlike psychotherapy we don’t spend sessions focusing on healing an old wound, and any healing that does occur in our work together (and it often does), happens in the present and is a by-product of the creative process.

For those in the Los Angeles area I can work in-person, either at your home or office. Because many of my clients live and work all over the world I also offer sessions via video conferencing and I sometimes work in-person on location.

It depends on what you want to accomplish and how committed you are to the change you seek.

My style of support often brings powerful change and creates results very quickly, and some clients see results right away.

• Most clients like to commit to a package and let the change evolve over eight sessions or more.
• Clients who have already completed one of my packages often book singles sessions in 30, 60, 90 and 120 minute blocks to follow up or work with something new.
• Clients who have not previously worked with me and want only hypnotherapy or NLP sometimes book single sessions in 60, 90 and 120 minute blocks.
• I also have many clients who've chosen to work with me for a number of years because they love the support and continued growth that ongoing sessions brings.

Normally the sessions run between 60 and 120 minutes depending on the package or contract you choose.

With life, career, relationship and grief recovery coaching we start with 60-minute sessions during the initial package. If coaching continues beyond that you can choose between 30, 60 and 90 minute sessions.

If you want to include hypnotherapy, NLP and/or energy work I suggest booking sessions that are at least 90-minutes.

In my packages, the initial engagement runs anywhere from 1 to 3 months, and includes 8 hours of sessions taken in 60, 90 or 120 minute time slots, depending on the package chosen. With packages there is a minimum of 2 hours per month. After an initial package, our work together can be ongoing or taken whenever desired. Please see the 'Packages' page for more information.

Most clients choose 2 sessions per month, though some prefer to meet more often. It is up to you.

For most packages there is an initial commitment to at least 8 hours taken within 2 to 4 months, unless otherwise indicated. This commitment means that the change our work brings has a chance to evolve and set in.

No, absolutely not. The work we do together is tailored to fit your needs and goals. I work with you as a unique individual with unique needs and a unique experience of life.

Assignments are something you would choose to do or not, and are based on your own discovery in the session. Many clients like to have between-session assignments as they serve to maximize effectiveness of the work and provide accountability of action. Assignments can be as action-based as you wish or more internal-oriented to create on a deeper personal awareness and they are always crafted by you, and if you like, with my support and collaboration.

Our private work together is completely confidential. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of any agreement when working with me, either in my contract with you and/or any NDA you may wish me to sign. Nothing you say in coaching will be shared with anyone. The only exception to this would be if I were ordered by a court of law to disclose information.

The hourly rate for any of my services is $350 per hour unless you choose a Package (see Packages page), which have discounted rates, or if you choose to work under a different agreement I have with you via your legal team or manager.

Yes, I offer packages that have discounted rates. (See Packages page)

Yes, I will send you an intake form, which includes a simple written agreement about the services I provide, the policies in place, and each of our roles and responsibilities. You will have a chance to look this over and ask me any questions prior to signing it and making a financial commitment. Alternatively you may prefer a custom agreement that I craft in collaboration with your legal team or manager.

All sessions are paid for by credit card through a secure on-line system.
